The service is very unreliable. Their outgoing calls did not work for more than 3 months. The customer service is more interested in closing a ticket than solving the problem.
They would close every ticket by blaming the ISP. The problem is always the ISP. My outgoing calls stopped working and I tried to resolve the problem for more than 3 months without any success.

8x8 Review:
After lots of research on VOIP providers I chose 8x8. Due to problems with my ISP provider, I have had very extensive dealings with their tech support--four or five HOURS; Hands down they are the best I've EVER dealt with in any field. (I'm 50.) They did everything thing they could to make this successful for us, and taught me a lot about broadband technology at the same time. The bottom line was that, despite our 3 MG broadband, our ISP provider would not give us more than 256 K upload unless we agreed to pay an extra forty dollars a month. For VOIP to be successful you need a steady 1 MG upload. 8x8, though, is the best!

I have been a customer for several years and I have enjoyed the service provided, however I am not at all comfortable with the rate increases and no explanation for the increases. This part of the service has turned me off, literally. I am searching for another service.

8x8 Review:
I've had Packet8 now OVER 2 YEARS. At first I had some quality problems but my cable company fixed this when they replaced my drop to the house. Since then I have been PROBLEM FREE. I kept my landline as my alarm company said the alarm was not capable of using VOIP. The Packet8 line is much better than the landline. The landline gets static on it when it rains outside but the Packet8 line remains crystal clear. The Packet8 network connection box has settings that you can change using your computer so you can set up the amount of bandwidth you want it to use. I played around with it when I first got it. The first year I had it I had the 2 meg download speed from my cable company and it worked fine. Now I have the 8 meg speed and it still works fine. Packet8 provides caller ID with name to be displayed on your caller ID boxes whereas many other VOIP services only display the number. I also wired the packet8 box into my phone jacks, after unplugging the outside connection so I wasn't powering the phone company lines, this allowed me to use all of the house phones. We have 8 house phones and they all work fine. I have the $199 plan for unlimited use for the year. They bill my credit card the exact amount of tax monthly, which is a couple of bucks. Compare the VOIPs. I did and settled on Packet8 and have been impressed with them. I called customer service a couple of times when I first got the service asking how to change a few things around and actually got to speak to a human in the USA.:) Good Company, Good Service, I'll stick with them. I also like the ability to take the service with me when I travel.

I have been a loyal customer of this company for the past 8 years, it started ok but as time progressed the company has gone down hill. The sound quality atrocious, the prices raised and the customer service... the pits. I am changing as of today when I realized they were charging me more in fees & taxes than on long distance calling, which is relatively free. you figure it out!

Phone always had echo. Sometimes I'd dial and nothing would happen. Customer service was ok with tech issues. Horrible with billing issues. I couldn't change my login and you couldn't change it from what you first registered with. I am changing as soon as I can.

8x8 Review:
The service is great once the kinks are worked out. And most of those kinks are NOT with Packet 8 but the different high speed ISPs. We have 9 people on the system. Of those my biz partner and I work in one home based location and every one else works from their home. SO we get to see how Packet 8 works with many different ISPs. And I would highly recommend them.

Had Packet8 for several years...the sound quality was never very good and there was always a delay in the transmission...you had to talk slow. I was reasonably satisfied until I tried to cancel the service. Long story short, if you want to cancel send a registered letter. They are now (three months later) saying I still owe them for another month and I have had to dispute this with the credit card company. What a PIA their customer no service is to deal with. Good luck if you decide to use them.

How does anyone get their Service Canceled without being on hold for ever and only getting transferred around, and never talking to a real person?? I too was a SunRocket orphan. I still use TeleBlend with my SunRocket Gizmo... works great. The Packet8 phone has worked great... Their Customer Service and Website Sucks if you ever want to cancel without calling your credit card company to dispute the bill!!
